Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Development (UASPD) Course Available

The newest version of the UAS Program Development (UASPD) course, funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FEMA, is now available through the New Mexico Tech Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center (EMRTC).

This no-cost training is designed for first responders of all disciplines who are responsible for establishing or expanding drone programs within their agencies or local jurisdictions. The course is available nationwide, including all U.S. states and territories.

Initial Law Enforcement Response to Suicide Bombing Attacks, Residential (ILERSBA) Course Available

The updated version of the Initial Law Enforcement Response to Suicide Bombing Attacks (ILERSBA) course is now available through the New Mexico Tech Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center (EMRTC). Funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FEMA, this course is offered at no cost to US law enforcement officers.

Now available as a residential delivery, the course takes place at EMRTC’s state-of-the-art training facilities and laboratories in Socorro, New Mexico. The latest version incorporates advanced virtual reality simulations, immersing law enforcement officers in high-stress, real-world scenarios in a safe and controlled environment. These hands-on exercises reinforce classroom instruction and enhance operational readiness.

Prevention of Bombing Incidents, (PBI) Course Series Available

The updated Prevention of Bombing Incidents (PBI) course is now available through the New Mexico Tech Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center (EMRTC). Funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FEMA, the course is delivered at EMRTC’s training facilities in Socorro, New Mexico and is also offered nationwide across all U.S. states and territories—at no cost to qualifying first responders. 

This course prepares emergency responders to help prevent both terrorist and criminal bombing incidents, with an emphasis on identifying pre-incident indicators and understanding evolving threat ideologies. Participants study the Seven Bombing Phases—from recruitment and surveillance to detonation—and learn how to interrupt that cycle.

The residential course also includes live explosive demonstrations, allowing participants to witness the blast effects of improvised explosive devices, including a vehicle-borne IED, in a safe, controlled environment.
